Tartans to Welcome Five for 2016 Season

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team will welcome five newcomers for the 2016 season. The Tartans will return to the court in August after recording the second highest win total in school history with 29 victories in 2015. The Tartans will also return an All-American middle hitter and All-Region libero to go with four additional seniors, five juniors and five sophomores.

The five newcomers hail from California, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Sahara Aqui (MB/OH, Miramar, Fla./Archbishop McCarthy)
Named Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-America in 2015, a Sun Sentinel All-America First Team and Miami Dade All-America Second Team...Academic awards include Principal's Honor Roll, National Society of HIgh School Scholars, Silver Knight Nominee, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Society...played club for Wildfire 17 Nike Black...will be studying in Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Erike Foose (MH, Allentown, Pa./Parkland)
Team won Class AAA State Championship in 2014 and 2015,  was named All-State twice...was a four-year member of the Principals List...played club ball for East Coast Power (formerly called Synergy)...will be studying in Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Maia So-Holloway (S, Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral)
2014 CIF State Champions, 2014 WCAL Champions, 2014 Norcal Division III Champions, WCAL All League Second Team, AVCA Phenom List, BCL-East All League 1st Team. Also, I forgot to include my club awards. 2014 Bronze Medalist at JN's (National Division), 4 year Open Division JN participant, 11th place in 2016 18 Open, Bronze Medalist in the 2016 NIT Triple Crown Tournament...Academic Excellence Award for Biology, Adv. Algebra Trigonometry, Art, Chemistry Honors, DePaul Scholar, CSF Member...played club for Red Rock 18-1...will be studying in Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Olivia Schappell (RS, Devon, Pa./Conestoga)
Most Valuable Player 2015-2016,  School Records: 2nd All-time Career Blocks, 5th All-time Career Kills, All Main Line Conference Team, Central League Conference 2nd Team...AP Scholar with Distinction Award, Three time Leadership and Service Award winner , National Musical Honor Society...played for Synergy Volleyball Club...will be studying in Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Kayla Yew (OH/DS, San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral)
2014 WCAL Champion, 2014 CIF California State Champion, 2015 WCAL Honorable Mention...DePaul Scholar, SHC Community Life Leadership Award, SHC Spirit Award, Geometry Academic Award, Biology Academic Award...played club for Mountain View Volleyball Club...will be studying in the college of engineering.
