Tummala Earns UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman setter Neha Tummala of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week following her performance over the weekend. Tummala helped the Tartans to a 3-0 mark over the weekend at the SUNY-Geneseo Invitational.

Tummala ended the weekend with 121 assists, 11.0 assists per set, 37 digs and added five service aces while recording two double-double outings. She started the weekend with a season-high of 45 assists and 18 digs while tabbing four aces in the Tartans 3-1 win over the host Knights. Tummala started Saturday with 39 assists and 10 digs in the Tartans 3-1 win over RIT before closing play with 37 assists and nine digs in a straight set victory for the Tartans over Fredonia.

The Tartans will travel to Atlanta, Georgia to face the University of Chicago in the UAA Championship Quarterfinals. The match will be at Emory University on Friday November 10, at 2:00 p.m.
