Tartans Finish Third at Mack Cooper Invitational

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team traveled north on Interstate 79 for the Mack Cooper Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University at Cooper's Lake Campground. The Tartans finished the race third out of seven teams with three runners finishing in the top 20.

Freshman Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci & Tech) finished first for the Tartans as she crossed the finish line 11th overall in a time of 23:59.53. Junior Catherine Paquette (Bethel, Ohio/Archbishop McNicholas) was second on the team to finish as she was 17th overall in 24:12.63.

Senior Eva Humphrey (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) wasn't far behind Paquette in 18th place in 24:18.77 to give the Tartans three runners in the top 20.

Freshman Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) and junior Elise Hall (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro Senior) were 23rd and 24th overall in times of 24:36.84 and 24:42.28, respectively.

The Tartans' freshman Jillian Jaycox (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) was 27th overall and sixth on the team in 24:47.25 as sophomore Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) finished seventh on the team and 29th overall in 24:47.71.

The Tartans will travel to Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., on Saturday, September 22 for a 11:30 a.m. race for their next competition.
