Tartans Run to 4th-Place Finish at Mid-East Regional Championship

(NEWVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team raced to a fourth place finish at the 2012 Mideast Regional at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa. hosted by Dickinson College. The Tartans were led by junior Elise Hall (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro Senior).

Hall's time of 23:22.9 placed her 26th overall.  The Tartans next four finishers were within 10 places of each other.  Senior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) crossed with a time of 23:40.9 in 40th while sophomore Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) placed 45th with a time of 23:56.6.

Senior Eva Humphrey (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) and freshman Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci. & Tech) rounded out the results for the Tartans. Humphrey finished 49th and Schnepf was 50th with times of 24:04.9 and 24:06.0, respectively.

Hall earned All-Region honors by finishing in the top 35.

The team will now await results from across the country to see if they make the list to run for a national championship on Saturday, November 17, at Rose Hulman Inst. of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind.
