Schnepf Paces Tartans at Duquesne Duals

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team opened its 2015 season at the Duquesne Duals at Schenley Park Saturday, September 5. The Tartans were the only Division III team competing in the event in a field comprised of 100 runners.

Leading the Tartans was senior Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci. & Tech) who crossed the line in 19:22.1 placing 13th overall. Fellow seniors Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) and Zofia Tillman (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) placed 17th and 18th with times of 19:25.5 and 19:30.3, respectively.

Sophomore Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H.) and junior Shaheen Essabhoy (Palo Alto, Calif.) rounded out the Tartans top five finishers. Alavilli crossed with a time of 20:13.0 to place 34th while Essabhoy finished 40th with a time of 20:22.3.

The Tartans will look to continue their success at the Dickinson Invitational on September 26 at Dickinson College.
