Tartans Compete at Inter-Regional Rumble

(OBERLIN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team finished the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College in 14th-place out of 29 teams on Saturday, October 15. Leading the team for the fifth race this season was junior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H./Hanover).

Alavilli finished sixth in a field of 255 runners with a time of 21:58.8. Graduate student Shaheen Essabhoy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) was next to cross for the Tartans, as she placed 83rd with a time of 23:41.8.

Freshman Rachel Reolfi (North Canton, Ohio/Canton Central Catholic) ran the course in 23:56.2 to finish third for the Tartans and 97th overall followed by junior Rhiannon Farney (Winston Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor). Farney placed 106th with a time of 24:07.8.

The fifth Cardinal and Gray runner to cross was freshman Valerie Collins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) with a time of 24:24.9 in 131st.

The Tartans will next compete at the University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, October 29 at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
