Alavilli Earns Selection to 2016 NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - Junior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team earned qualification to the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships to be held at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, November 19. Alavilli becomes the eighth Tartan to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual.

At the Mideast Regional meet on Saturday at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, Alavilli turned in a 13th-place performance with a time of 22:01 which helped her qualify for the NCAA meet with an at-large selection.

Alavilli has run the course that will be used for the NCAA Championships, as the team competed at the Greater Louisville Classic on October 1. She finished that race with a time of 22:31.62.

The national race is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
