Going Dancing! Women’s Cross Country Headed to NCAA Championships for First Time Since 1998

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team received an at-large invitation to the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships which will be held at the Principia College North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Illinois on Saturday, November 18. The team appearance marks the fourth in program history and first since 1998 when the Tartans finished fourth at the national meet.

Carnegie Mellon received the invite after placing fourth at the Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 12. At the meet, senior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) and sophomores Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) and Kate Reilly (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) garnered all-region honors after placing in the top 35 at the race. Alavilli crossed the finish line in eighth place, Levine was 19th and Reilly was 35th.
