(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team received an at-large invitation to the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships, marking the sixth straight bid for the Tartans. This year's race will be hosted at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 18. The team's appearance marks the ninth in program history.

Carnegie Mellon received the invite after placing second at the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 11. Six Tartans finished in the top 35 to earn all-region accolades with sophomore Orit Shiang leading the team with an eighth-place finish.

The Tartans received one of 22 at-large bids and will join the field of 32 in Eastern Pennsylvania. The Tartans placed 30th at last year's championship after tracking the snow-covered course and were 18th in 2021, marking the highest finish under head coach Tim Connelly who has led the Tartans to six championship appearances in nine years at the helm.

The women's race will begin at 12:00 p.m.
