Men's Soccer Team Plants Trees and Cleans Up Local Park

On Sunday, April 29, the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team joined forces to serve the community along the park boarding the Pittsburgh campus. The team was able to take advantage of the sunny afternoon by planting trees and removing invasive plants from the area around the Schenley Park Visitors Center on Panther Hollow Drive.
Men’s Soccer Alums Establish Scholarship To Honor Former Coach

It didn’t take long for Sharif Siddiqui (TPR 00) to realize he wanted to give back to Carnegie Mellon. During Siddiqui’s senior year, the former men’s soccer player began thinking about ways he could thank the university for the opportunities he received as a student and athlete.
Gianopoulos Receives NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Senior Nick Gianopoulos (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Gianopoulos will receive a one-time, nonrenewable grant of $7,500 to be used for part-time or full-time postgraduate study at a university or professional school.
Men's Soccer Announces Summer Camp Dates

Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer head coach Arron Lujan has announced summer camp dates for 2012. The program will host a day camp and overnight camp at the end of July and beginning of August.
Team Earns Academic Honor from NSCAA

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team earned the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for its performance in the classroom for the 2010-2011 academic year. The Tartans are one of 220 men's teams to achieve a GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Gianopoulos Named Capital One Academic All-America

Senior Nick Gianopoulos (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team was named a Capital One Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) this week. This is Gianopoulos' first Academic All-America honor after receiving All-District honors twice.

Ben Kartzman has certainly been busy since graduating from Carnegie Mellon in 2000. Beginning as one of the most decorated goalkeepers in men’s soccer program history, Kartzman spent his next six years working for C-bridge Internet Solutions, Bridgeline Software and Accenture before developing Spongecell in January 2006. Now, just a few years in, Spongecell has been identified as one of the top 100 fastest growing companies in the country according to Inc. Magazine.
Crawshaw Headlines Carnegie Mellon’s All-UAA Men’s Soccer Award Winners

Junior John Crawshaw (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) headlines the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Soccer Honors for the Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team which finished 3-4 in league play and sixth in the standings. Two others join Crawshaw on the awards list which was released Monday, November 14.

Two Carnegie Mellon University senior men’s soccer players have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both defensive players, Ian Epperson (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Nick Gianopoulos (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) make their second appearance on the All-District team.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team concluded the 2011 season with a 2-1 win on Saturday, November 5, at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. The Tartans finish with a 7-8-1 overall mark and a 3-4 record in the University Athletic Association. The Eagles finish at 10-8 and 4-3.
Tartans End Home Season with Double OT Loss

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team was defeated Sunday in a double overtime contest with Brandeis University, 2-1, in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. Sunday’s loss was the final game for the senior class at home. The Tartans’ record falls to 6-8-1 (2-4 UAA) on the 2011 season as Brandeis improves to 11-5-1 (2-3-1).
Tartans Defeat NYU in Double Overtime

Sophomore Chris Wysocki (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) used his head to score the game-winner in double overtime to send the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over visiting New York University on Friday, October 28, in Pittsburgh. The Tartans move to 6-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the University Athletic Association. The Violets drop to 7-7-1 and 2-3.
Epperson Takes Leadership to a Different Level

When senior Ian Epperson first enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University he wanted to be a lawyer. Events stemming from his upbringing through his first year of college molded a different landscape for his future. Although graduate studies are still in his plans, a commitment to the United States Marine Corps will come first.
