#13 Tartans Tough Battle Not Enough in Setback to #4 Kenyon

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The #13 Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted #4 Kenyon College Sunday, April 1.  In a tough battle, the Tartans dropped a 5-4 decision moving their record to 10-5 while Kenyon improves to 12-4.

Carnegie Mellon led 2-1 after doubles play picking up wins at the first and third spots.  After dropping second doubles, junior Duke Miller (Poway, Calif./Poway) and freshman Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) won 8-6 at number one before the freshmen doubles tandem of Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) and Bryce Beisswanger (Los Angeles, Calif./Viewpoint School) won 9-7 at third doubles.

Duncan and junior Jooho Yu (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) won at third and six singles, respectively.  Duncan won a straight set match 6-3, 6-2, as Yu won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
