Three Men’s Tennis Players Receive All-UAA Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Three Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis players found a spot on the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team following the team's second-place finish at the Association Championship this past weekend.  It marked the first time in school history that the men's program played for the UAA Championship.

Junior Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) and freshman Kiril Kirkov (Tampa, Fla./C. Leon King) received first-team honors at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while Duncan was joined by fellow junior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) on the second team at No. 1 doubles.

Duncan had a regular season overall record of 16-9 in singles and ended with a 2-1 mark at the UAA Championship including a semifinal clinching victory for the Tartans over No. 4 Emory University.  Kirkov turned in a perfect 3-0 record during the championship and finished the regular season with a 20-6 mark.  Duncan and Heaney-Secord posted a mark of 2-1 last weekend including dominating wins over the top doubles tandems from Rochester and Emory. The tandem finished the season with a 14-9 record in doubles play.

For Duncan, it marked his second and third appearance on the UAA team, as he achieved the feat his freshman year at No. 1 doubles on the first team.
