No. 5 Men's Tennis to Host NCAA Matches

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team has been selected to the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship and named a host of the first, second and third rounds beginning Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 10. The Tartans received an at-large bid to the tournament after finishing second at the University Athletic Association Championship and moved up to number five in the national rankings.

The Tartans selection to the national tournament marks the fourth under head coach Andrew Girard and first since the team reached the quarterfinals in 2010.

The Tartans (17-6) and ninth-ranked Case Western Reserve Univesity (15-7) each have first round byes. The first round will begin with Messiah College (10-6) facing Otterbein University (18-4) and Kalamazoo College (12-8) facing Grove City College (8-4). Final date and times will be determined Tuesday, May 6.

The regional championship will conclude on Sunday with the winners of the eight regionals to play for the national championship on Monday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 21 in Claremont, California.
