Alla Receives UAA Athlete of the Week Recognition

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University junior men's tennis player Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) was named the University Athletic Association Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for winning two matches during the Tartans' 1-1 week against top-ranked competition.

Alla picked up two wins at first singles over the weekend as the Tartans defeated No. 12 Case Western Reserve University 6-3 at home before falling 6-3 to No. 11 Kenyon College on the road. Alla defeated Christopher Krimbill, ranked first in the Central Region, on Saturday, 6-2, 6-3, and returned to the court on Sunday to top Wade Heerboth, ranked sixth in the Central Region, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, avenging a loss to Heerboth during the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.

The Tartans' season continues when they host 19th-ranked University of Mary Washington on Saturday, April 11 and 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins University of Sunday, April 12.
