ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Seven Named Scholar Athletes

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the seventh straight season and 14th time in the last 15 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, seven players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
Six Tartans Recognized as ITA All-Americans

Six Carnegie Mellon University tennis players were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as 2016 Division III All-Americans. Both the men’s and women’s programs had three players earn the national distinction for their play on the hardcourt in 2015-2016.
Alla Earns Third CoSIDA Academic All-America Honor

Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis senior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) has been selected to the 2016 Academic All-America Division III At-Large Men’s Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Alla garnered second team accolades for the third year becoming the first Tartan men's tennis player to earn the honor three times.
Alla Closes Career in NCAA Singles Semifinals

Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis senior Abhishek Alla closed his collegiate tennis career in the semifinals of the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles Championship on Friday, May 27 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. With the finish, Alla becomes the second Carnegie Mellon tennis player to reach the NCAA semifinals.

Men’s Tennis Coaching Staff Receives ITA Regional Recognition

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its regional award winners on Wednesday, May 25 and both head coach Andrew Girard and assistant coach Mike Belmonte were honored on the men’s side for the Atlantic South Region. Girard was named Wilson/ITA Region Coach of the Year while Belmonte was named Assistant Region Coach of the Year.

No. 5 Tartans Ousted from NCAA Championship by No. 26 Johns Hopkins

The fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted 26th-ranked Johns Hopkins University in the 2016 NCAA Division III Regional Championship on Saturday, May 14. In a tight battle between Atlantic South rivals, the Blue Jays (19-5) earned a 5-3 victory to advance to the quarterfinals for the third straight year.
No. 5 Men’s Tennis Advance to Third Round of NCAA Championship

The fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men’s tennis team competed in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships Friday, May 13, and advanced with a 5-0 victory over Goucher College. The win moves the Tartans’ dual-match record to 17-6, as the Gophers end their season at 20-5. Carnegie Mellon is hosting the three-day NCAA Regional.
Men’s Tennis Selected to Host 2016 NCAA Opening Rounds

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team will compete for the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship and have been selected to host the first, second and third rounds. The Tartans will host action on Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14 with five teams traveling to Pittsburgh.
Freshmen Men’s Tennis Tandem Named All-UAA

The Carnegie Mellon University freshmen doubles team of Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) and Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) were honored by the University Athletic Association's (UAA) coaches on the All-UAA team. The tandem earned a spot on the second-team at No. 1 doubles following their performance at the Association Championship this past weekend.
Mentoring Match Comes at Perfect Time

Like many students, junior men’s tennis player Kiril Kirkov found searching for the right internship to be difficult and taxing. Even with a campus career and professional development center that has expertise in resume crafting and job placement at his disposal, Kirkov needed a little something extra. What he found was a voice who had experienced much of the same things, and he found it through the Student-Athlete Alumni Mentoring Program.

The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team topped fifth-ranked University of Chicago, 5-4, to take third place in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday, April 23. The Tartans move to 16-6 on the year while the Maroons fall to 15-5.

The eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team faced No. 1 Emory University in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship semifinals on Friday, April 22. The Eagles excelled in singles play to take the match, 8-1, and put the Tartans record at 15-6.
Tartans Advance to UAA Semifinals for 11th Straight Season

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team won it's 11th straight University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship quarterfinal match when it defeated fourth-seeded Case Western Reserve University, 6-3, on Thursday, April 21. The Tartans, seeded fifth for the tournament and eighth in the nation, are now 15-5 on the season while the sixth-ranked Spartans move to 18-7.
