#22 Tartans Host Division I Duquesne
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 22nd in Division III, hosted Duquesne University on Friday afternoon and dropped a 7-0 contest. The Tartans are now 5-9 on the season while the Dukes even their mark at 8-8.
Duquesne claimed the team point in doubles play, as the match was played using Division I scoring, and the Dukes won at first and third double. The Tartan sophomore duo of Brandon Aprill (Mountain View, Calif. / The Menlo School) and Derek Wong (La Jolla, Calif. / Francis Parker) played a hard-fought match at the second spot and forced a tiebreaker before falling 8-7 (2).
The Tartans will be back on the courts Saturday, April 16 when the entertain the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University.
