Tartans Open Play at ITA Cup, Jangbahadur Wins Singles Match

(ROME, Ga.) – The freshman pair of Raghav Jangbahadur and Daniel Kong of the Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team opened competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, on Thursday, October 12 after earning spots in the national tournament with their performances at the ITA Southeast Regional.

Jangbahadur started play in the singles bracket with a 6-4, 7-5 victory against Gage Gohl of Gustavus Adolphus College Thursday afternoon.

The win puts Jangbahadur in the quarterfinals with a match on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The second match of the day was the debut of Jangbahadur and Kong on the national stage as they were matched against 2023 All-Americans, Quinn Wicklund and Jordan Theron of The University of the South. The junior and senior duo from Sewanee, seed fourth for the tournament, was able to defeat the Tartans with a 6-3, 7-5 score.

The Tartan duo will now play a pair from The College of New Jersey on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
