Erra-Hernandez Headed to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Sophomore Zacharay Erra-Hernandez (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track & field team received an invite to compete at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships held May 24-26 in Claremont, California hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Erra-Hernandez will be competing in the shot put.

Erra-Hernandez will enter the championships with a top distance of 16.56 meters which currently ranks him 15th in the shot put heading into the championships.  The senior placed first at the UAA Championships in the shot put with that distance.  

Erra-Hernandez will compete Saturday at 4:05 p.m. PT in the trails with the finals to follow.  He becomes the second Tartan to compete in the shot put at the NCAA Championships, James Hulley competed in 2009 and 2010.
