Erra-Hernandez Moves Up in National Rankings

(DELAWARE, Ohio.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior thrower Zachary Erra-Hernandez (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) broke the school record in the hammer for the fourth time this season and inched forward in the national rankings Monday afternoon at the Ohio Wesleyan University Ron Althoff Final Qualifier.  

Erra-Hernandez heaved the hammer 56.12 meters breaking his previous school record of 55.47 which he just marked last Friday.  

With his new career-best mark, Erra-Hernandez has moved up in the national rankings two spots, now sitting at number 16.  The top 20 men will be invited to the national championship meet.

As Erra-Hernandez travels at the end of the week to North Central College in Naperville, Illinois with a few other members of the men's track and field team, all of the Tartans are looking to move ahead in the national rankings.

The 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships are being held May 22-24 and are hosted this year by Ohio Wesleyan University who also hosted the Championships in 2012.
