Tartans Sweep Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Jack Murphy (Ithaca, N.Y. / Trumansburg) and freshman Graham Eversden (Chandler, Ariz. / Chandler) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's outdoor track and field team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Murphy claimed the field accolade while Eversden received the running honor following their performance at the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival over the weekend.

Murphy won the pole vault clearing a personal-best height of 4.57 meters. His height currently is tops in the UAA and ranks second nationally.

Eversden placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.87 and posted a time of 4:13.50 in the 1,500-meter run to place ninth. His time in the 800 meters currently is tops in the UAA and ranks sixth nationally.

The Tartans will next compete at home at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 at Gesling Stadium.
