Branch-Shaw and Kiefel Garner UAA Weekly Awards

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Harry Branch-Shaw (New York, N.Y. / Brooklyn Technical) and junior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's outdoor track and field team swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week accolades following their weekend performances at the Tartans annual invitational.

Branch-Shaw won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:17.11. His time currently ranks second nationally.

Kiefel broke the school triple jump record while also turning in a person-best mark in the long jump. The junior placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 14.59 meters. The distance topped Fred Dauphin's mark of 14.21 meters set in 2019. Earlier in the day, Kiefel placed second in the long jump with a mark of 7.12 meters. He currently ranks tops in the nation in the triple jump and second in the long jump.
