Kiefel Honored by UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following his performance at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge hosted by Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday.

Kiefel helped the Tartans win the six-team event by taking first in the triple and long jumps. The senior topped his school record leap of 14.45 meters, which he set early this season, in the triple jump with a distance of 14.80 meters on Saturday. Kiefel also won the long jump with a jump of 6.94 meters. His mark in the triple jump on Saturday is currently tops in the UAA and fourth nationally.

The Tartans will compete next at Case Western University in the annual Battle for the Obelisk on Saturday, February 5th.
