Five PRs Set at Marty Goldberg Gator Invite

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Marty Goldberg Gator Invite on Thursday hosted by Allegheny College.

Top Performances:

  • Senior Verne Garin ran the 100-meter in a personal-best time of 11.05 to place third.
  • Junior Andrew McGovern ran the 400-meter in a person-best time of 49.01 to win the event.
  • Sophomore Cody Breidenbach took second in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 57.61 meters.
  • In the pole vault, freshman Christian Duckworth cleared the bar at a personal-best 4.63 meters and placed second.
  • Junior Thomas Rich competed in four events. In his three field events, he cleared the bar at 3.63 in the pole vault to place ninth, tossed the shot put 12.23 meters for a seventh-place finish and threw the javelin 46.74 meters to place sixth. On the track he crossed the line in personal-best 23.08 in the 200-meter dash for eighth place.
  • Senior Alex Halkias placed second in the 200-meter dash after crossing the line in 21.82.
  • Sophomore Nathaniel Deyak competed in the hammer and discus, placing eighth and 12th. He tossed the hammer 37.87 meters and the discus 36.57 meters.
