McGovern and Davies Win Two Events With Other Top Performances at Dave Labor Invitational
(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon men's track and field team competed in the Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday April 6. The Tartans won three events.
Top Performances on the Track
- Senior Andrew McGovern placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.33. Freshman Philip Ma placed eighth with a time of 1:00.15.
- Senior Thomas Rich placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.17. Junior Micah Nowlin followed in sixth place with a time of 15.89.
- In the 4x400-meter meter relay, the Tartans' "A" team with sophomore Jeremy Ocloo, graduate student Leland Davies, senior Alex Ivanov and McGovern placed first with a time of 3:23.06. The Tartans' "C" team with Rich, senior Pranav Rajbhandari, Ma, and freshman Luke Cerwin placed fourth with a time of 3:30.86.
- Davies placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.50. Ivanov placed third with a time of 1:57.67.
- Three Tartans placed in the top five of the 3000-meter steeplechase. Sophomore Kenji Tella placed second with a time of 9:42.57. Senior Jacob Hsu placed third with a time of 9:48.32. Junior Seth Williams placed fifth with a time of 9:52.94.
- Senior Austin Weltz placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.19.
- Freshman Adam Kollgaard placed sixth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:34.23.
- Freshman Christian Brower placed eighth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:07.56.
Top Performances on the Field
- Freshman Ryan Handron placed second in pole vault with a mark of 4.65 meters.
- Junior Sebastian Sanso placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.29 meters.
- Sophomore Sam Alligood placed fifth in discus throw with a mark of 43.63 meters.
- Sophomore Christian Duckworth placed fourth at a mark of 4.65 meters, and freshman Solomon Glavach placed seventh with a mark of 4.20 meters.
- Rich and Sanso placed sixth and seventh respectively in high jump, both with marks of 1.88m.
- Freshman Pujith Kachana placed seventh with a mark of 12.29 meters.
- Alligood placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.23 meters. Junior Nathaniel Deyak placed eighth with a mark of 44.17 meters.

The Tartans will travel to compete at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. Competition will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.
