Alligood Named UAA Field Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Sam Alligood of the Carnegie Mellon University men's outdoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events. The sophomore earns the honor following his performance at the Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday hosted by Slippery Rock University.

Alligood placed fifth in the hammer throw and discus, as he recorded a career-best throw of 46.23 meters in the hammer. He marked at 43.63 meters in the discus. The sophomore also competed in the shot put and recorded a season-best throw of 14.57 meters. Alligood currently ranks tops in the discus, with his throw Saturday the second best throw this season, second in the shot put and fourth in the hammer in the UAA.

The Tartans will travel to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to compete in the Westminster College Invitational Saturday, April 13.
