Connelly Named Men’s Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – Associate head coach Tim Connelly of the Carnegie Mellon University men's outdoor track and field teams was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with outstanding regional recognition. The 10-year coach was named Mid-Atlantic Assistant Coach of the Year for the men.

For Connelly, this marks the third straight outdoor season receiving the accolade and fourth time garnering the recognition. This past indoor season the received the same honor.

Connelly, who coach the Cardinal and Gray distance runners, coached two national qualifiers in the 10,000-meter run in graduate student Matthew Porter and junior Matthew Coyle as well as 10 All-Region athletes. He mentored the distance runners to scoring 77 points across seven events to contributed to the team title at the UAA Conference Championships. This season the distance runners have set one school record and had six all-time performances.
