Tartans Take Third Place at Home Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team finished third at its home invitational on Saturday, October 8, in Schenley Park. The Tartans had three finishers in the top 20 as Division II Ashland University won the meet with seven runners in the top 15.

Junior Evan Gates (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) paced the Tartans with a fourth-place finish in 25:45.64. Sophomore Adam Cantini (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) finished 16th overall in 26:36.21 with junior Billy Littlefield (Wellesley, Mass.) right on his heels in 17th place in 26:37.41.

Sophomore Ken Murphy (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was fourth for the Tartans and 22nd overall in 26:45.35 while sophomore Brendan O'Hara (Chicago, Ill./Latin School of Chicago) with 29th overall in 26:54.59.

Rounding out the top seven for the Tartans was senior Rob Morhard (Eagleville, Pa./Methaeton) in 34th place in 27:04.03 and sophomore Mike Standish (Washington, Pa./Trinity) in 36th place in 27:06.11.

The Tartans will next compete at Penn State University on Friday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m.
