Gates Named to Capital One Academic All-America Team

(TOWSON, Md.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Evan Gates (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) reeled in another award as he was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division III Men's Track and Cross Country Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Gates was named to the Academic All-America Second Team after garnering first team honors in the district. The junior ran to new heights in the fall when he earned the chance to compete at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships as an individual by placing sixth at the regional meet. The mechanical and biomedical engineering major, with a 4.0 GPA, placed 28th overall at the championships to earn his first All-America honor in cross country.
