Tartans Tie for Second at Lock Haven Invitational

(LOCK HAVEN, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team, ranked 14th nationally in Division III, tied for a second-place team finish at the Lock Haven University Invitational on Saturday, September 21. Winning the race was the host Lock Haven while fellow Division II institution Slippery Rock University tied with the Tartans.

Once again, senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) was the top runner for the Tartans.  The senior finished second as an individual after posting a time of 25:08.60 on the 8k course.  Senior Ken Murphy (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was the second Tartan to cross the finish line.  Murphy had a time of 25:34.40 to place 12th while sophomore Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) finished in 18th with a time of 25:56.10.

Junior Eamon Cullinane (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) was the fourth Tartan to cross, as he had a time of 26:05.10 to place 28th.  The last three Tartans to cross the finish line and score points were all within four seconds of each other.  Junior Josh Antonson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had a time of 26:15.80 followed by senior Brendan O'Hara (Chicago, Ill./Latin School of Chicago) and freshman Curtis Watro (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) with times of 26:17.90 and 26:19.20, respectively.

Carnegie Mellon will head to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 5 to run in the Louisville Classic.
