Tartans Compete Amongst the Best; Finish Third

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, October 1 against some of the best teams in the Division III.

A pair of sophomores finished first and second for the Tartans, as Jared Moore (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) was 17th overall in 25:36.00 and William Mitchell (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was 18th in 25:37.18.

Senior Curtis Watro (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) led a group of Tartans that finished 28th, 29th, 30th and 33rd along the 8k course. Watro finished in 25:50.34 with junior Ryan Auld (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) on his heels in 25:50.36. Freshman Edward Goebel (Abington, Pa./La Salle College) was next in 25:53.07 with senior Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) closing things off at 25:54.13.

The Tartans will next host the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m.
