Connelly Named Mideast Region Coach of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – Carnegie Mellon University head men's cross country coach Tim Connelly was named NCAA Division III Mideast Region Coach of the Year for the 2018 collegiate season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The honor comes following Connelly leading the sixth-ranked Tartans to their first regional title since 2014 and fifth in school history.

The Tartans won the regional meet by placing four runners in the top 20 and six in the top 35. Ranked seventh nationally heading into the meet, the Cardinal and Gray raced past the fourth- and sixth-ranked teams in the country to win the regional meet to make the program's 24th ap-pearance and fifth straight in the championship race.

The Tartans will compete at the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Champi-onships hosted by University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winne-conne, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 17 with the men's race set to begin at 1:15 p.m. ET.
