Tartans Claim Home Hampton Inn Pittsburgh – University/Medical Center Invitational Title

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team won its home Hampton Inn Pittsburgh – University/Medical Center Invitational on Saturday. The Tartans finished with five men in the top 15 in a field of Division I, II and III runners.

Sophomore Naren Karur (Santa Clara, Calif. / Saint Francis) was third overall with a time of 26:15. Freshman Zachary Nowak (Manassas, Vi. / Osbourn High School) was second for the Tartans just eight seconds behind Karur finishing fourth overall.

Sophomore Everett Kolto (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) finished fifth overall in a time of 26:23. Freshman Elijah Sech (Ithaca, N.Y. / Ithaca) was fourth for the Tartans and 12th overall.

Sophomore Christian Frech (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit) was fifth for the Tartans finishing 13th overall in 26:47. Graduate student Andrew Harter (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga) closely followed in 26:54 placing 16th overall and sixth for the Tartans.

Freshman Ryan Mulcahy (Lake Orion, Mi. / Lake Orion High School) closed out the Tartans' top seven and finished in 14th overall with a time of 27:13.

The Tartans will race again next Saturday, October 19, at the Rowan Inter-Regional Invitational in Glassboro, New Jersey.
