Fourteen Earn NFCA All-America Scholar Honors

Fourteen Carnegie Mellon University softball athletes were honored for their 2021-22 academic success by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). All thirteen were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes for finishing the year with a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or better.
Song Concludes Career with All-Region Recognition

Carnegie Mellon University senior infielder Emily Song (Mount Arlington, N.J. / Roxbury) was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Region VII Second Team to conclude her four-year career for the Tartans. Song was honored for her play at second base for the Tartans and is the fourth Tartan to earn regional recognition in the program’s four years of competition.
89 Carnegie Mellon Student-Athletes Earn Spring Academic Honors

A total of 89 Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) All-Academic Recognition list for the spring sports teams, as announced by the Association on May 5.
Heffernen and Eichberger Honored by UAA Coaches

Sophomore Erika Heffernen (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) and freshman Libby Eichberger (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Monday with selection to the Softball All-Association team. Heffernen was voted to the first team while Eichberger earned a spot on the second team.
Tartans Drop Two at CWRU

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, April 23 at CWRU in the final University Athletic Association (UAA) series of the season for each team. The Spartans won game one in five innings by a 16-4 score before coming from behind to win the second game, 7-2. The Tartans are now 15-18 overall and 6-12 in the UAA while the Spartans are 23-9 and 15-3.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team ended the season with a 6-5 loss to Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, April 24, as the Spartans rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the victory. The Tartans close the year at 15-19 overall and 6-13 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
Song Records 100th Hit

Senior Emily Song (Mount Arlington, N.J. / Roxbury) recorded her 100th career hit, as the Carnegie Mellon University softball team opened its final University Athletic Association (UAA) series of the year at Case Western Reserve University on Friday, April 22. The Spartans earned a 2-0 victory to add to their best UAA performance in program history while the Tartans are now 15-16 overall for the season.
First Recruiting Class Closes Final Home Series with Win vs. WashU

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team concluded its regular-season home schedule at Seneca Valley High School with a win and a loss to Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday, April 17, winning the second game of the doubleheader for the nine-member senior class that was the first recruiting class in program history. The Tartans are now 15-15 for the season and 6-9 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

The Tartans dropped both games and are now 14-14 overall and 5-8 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
Tartans Blast Five Home Runs in Doubleheader Split with Brandeis

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team hit five home runs in a doubleheader split to end the four-game series with Brandeis University on Saturday, April 9 at Plum Senior High School. The Tartans took game one by a 5-1 score while the Judges held on to win 12-10 in game two. The Tartans are now 14-12 for the season and 5-6 in the UAA while the Judges moved to 17-11 and 5-7.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped a pair of games to Brandeis University on Friday, April 8 at Plum Senior High School in its University Athletic Association (UAA) home series. The Judges won 7-2 in game one and 10-1 in game two. The Tartans are now 13-11 for the season and 4-5 in the UAA while the Judges moved to 16-10 and 4-6.

Due to rain throughout the week the Carnegie Mellon University four-game softball series against Brandeis University has been moved from the Tartans' home field of All American Park in Trafford, Pennsylvania, to Plum Senior High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team split a doubleheader with New York University on Saturday, April 2, and are now 13-9 for the year and 4-3 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Tartans won game one, 6-2, behind the pitching of senior Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach) and 11 hits. The Violets were able to hold on for an 8-6 win in game two.

The Tartans are now 12-8 for the year and 3-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
