Carnegie Mellon Hires Anne Alosa as Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Anne Alosa as a full-time women’s basketball assistant coach. Alosa comes to Pittsburgh with five years of coaching experience, including three years as a collegiate assistant coach.

A 2009 graduate of Plymouth State University, Alosa competed on the women’s basketball team for two seasons after transferring from Division II Georgian Court. While at Plymouth State, Alosa was named to the Athletic Director Honor Roll and the Little East All-Academic Team, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in business administration. Alosa continued her education at Southern New Hampshire University, obtaining her M.S. in sports management in 2012.

The New Hampshire native has spent the previous five years coaching, most recently serving as the head coach of Salem High School since August 2011, where she was named the 2013 Eagle Tribune Coach of the Year. Alosa’s collegiate coaching experience was also in the Northeast, as she assisted at Division II Adelphi University and Division II UMass-Lowell, working on game and practice management, recruiting, fundraising, community service, academic advising and film exchange. At Adelphi, Alosa helped recruit the Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year to the program.

"I have been blessed to work with many talented assistant coaches throughout my career and I am thrilled that Annie is joining our program,” head coach Jacquie Hullah said. “Her passion for coaching, her experience in teaching and recruiting, and her infectious personality will all make an immediate and long-lasting impact on Carnegie Mellon Women's Basketball."

Alosa’s additional coaching experience comes via the AAU circuit, where she assisted in the New Hampshire Bombers Organization from 2005-2007 and with New England Crusaders from 2011-2013. While with the Bombers, Alosa worked as the coach of a U-12 team and as an assistant with a U-17 team.

"I am very excited for this opportunity to become a part of the athletic staff at Carnegie Mellon University,” Alosa said. “I am thrilled to become a direct member of the women’s basketball staff and to work with and help Coach Hullah continue her instrumental changes in the program. I am honored to have the chance to work at such a prestigious institution and to recruit the highest caliber student-athlete.”
