Kathy McConnell-Miller Named Head Women's Basketball Coach at Carnegie Mellon University

Kathy McConnell-Miller has been named the new head coach of the Carnegie Mellon Women’s basketball program. McConnell-Miller, who has coached at the high school, college and professional levels, will assume leadership of the Tartans on May 31.
Tartans Place 14 on Basketball and Swimming & Diving Academic All-District Teams

Fourteen men’s and women’s basketball and swimming and diving Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the fall season. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team closed the season at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 24 with a 63-52 loss. The Tartans finish the year with an overall record of 11-14 with a 3-11 mark in University Athletic Association (UAA) play while the Spartans finish at 11-14 and 4-10.

The Violets held court and topped the Tartans, 76-54. The Tartans are now 10-12 overall and 2-9 in the UAA while the Violets move to 22-0 and 11-0.

The Tartans dropped the game by two points, 72-70, to move to 10-11 for the season and 2-8 in the UAA. The Judges moved to 5-16 and 1-9.

The Tartans led going into the fourth quarter but a comeback by the Bears dropped the Tartans to 10-9 for the season and 2-6 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Bears are now 12-7 and 5-3.

The Tartans led early in the third quarter but the Maroons were able to protect their home court by shooting 61.1% in the final frame to win, 72-58. The Tartans are now 10-8 overall and 2-5 in the UAA while the Maroons, who are receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, are now 12-6 and 5-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team played its third straight University Athletic Association (UAA) road contest on Friday, January 26 at Washington University in St. Louis. The Tartans shot 51.7% from the field but gave up 90 points to the Bears and fell 90-81 to move to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in the UAA. WashU is now 10-7 and 3-3.
