Murphy Tabbed as UAA Player of the Year, Three Others Honored by League Coaches

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Four Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball players were honored on the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball All-Association team, Wednesday, March 2, when the Association announced the annual awards. Headlining the team is junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) as the UAA Co-Player of the Year.

Murphy also earns her third first-team honor after leading the conference in points per game (23.7), field-goal percentage (75.2%), rebounds per game (11.2) and blocks per game (1.9). The junior center recorded 31 or more points in seven games with three coming against conference opponents where she averaged 20.6 points on 70.3% shooting. Her 25-game shooting percentage of 75.2% leads the nation while her 23.7 points per game is second in the nation.

Junior Jackie Hudepohl (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook (Colgate)) was also named to the first team and averaged 15.2 points per game which ranked fifth in the association. She was fourth in the league in rebounds per game, pulling down an average of 8.5. The second-year player for the Tartans also finished tied for third in the league with 1.2 blocks per game and tied for seventh in assists per game with 2.9.

Joining Murphy and Hudepohl with league honors are seniors Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Lindsay Poss (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) with honorable mention accolades. Otto earns her fourth award from the UAA coaches and third honorable mention selection. She recorded her 1,000th career point in a home win against #12 University of Rochester and averaged 12.9 points per game on 44.8% shooting. Otto also dished out 2.9 assists a game.

Poss earned her second straight honorable mention award after averaging 12.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. The senior shot 41.6% during the regular season including a 35.0% clip from three-point distance.
