(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team finished the regular season with a 71-56 victory at Case Western Reserve University in each team's final University Athletic Association (UAA) contest of the year. The Tartans finish with a 12-11 overall record and a 6-8 UAA mark while the Spartans finish at 8-17 and 3-11.

Four players scored in double figures for the Tartans with senior Leah Weslock (Howell, Mich. / Howell) recording a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Freshman Catherine Or (Los Angeles, Calif. / Marlborough School) led the team with 17 points while senior Caitlyn Clendenin (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) scored 14 and freshman Anisha Chintala (Austin, Texas / Westwood) scored 12.

The Tartans led 21-17 after the first 10 minutes thanks in part to 62.5% shooting from the floor. Clendenin led the team with six points and also had one assist and one steal in the period.

The team's shooting cooled down in the second period but they still won the quarter 15-14 to maintain the lead and hold a five-point advantage at the break.

Case Western Reserve went cold from the field in the third quarter and the Tartan seniors took advantage of it by scoring 15 points between them to push the Tartans to a 58-40 lead.

The 18-point lead going into the final period was enough for the Tartans who stayed with the Spartans in the final period for the 71-56 final.

Carnegie Mellon will learn if its season continues on Monday, February 28, when the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its field for postseason.
