Tartans Drop 56-48 Contest to Washington & Jefferson
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College on Monday afternoon and fell by the score of 56-48.

How it Happened
- With a minute to play in the first quarter, W&J took a 25-11 lead before the Tartans scored the final four points of the stanza and trailed 25-15.
- Carnegie Mellon continued its run over the first three minutes of play of the second quarter by scoring seven straight to extend the run to 11-0 with 7:05 on the clock which made the score 25-22.
- The Presidents answered and didn't allow a Tartan point the rest of the half and scored the last nine points to grab a 34-22 lead at the break.
- The third quarter started with the home team scoring eight straight to pull with in two possessions at 34-30 on a freshman Ava Black layup with 6:31 showing on the clock.
- A 9-4 run by W&J following Black's layup made the score 43-34 at the close of the third.
- The visitor's run extended to 12-4 two minutes into the fourth before Carnegie Mellon scored eight straight to make the score 46-42 midway through the quarter.
- With 1:47 to play, a made jumper by sophomore Isha Nambisan got the Tartans to within a basket at 48-46, but six straight by the Presidents sealed the win for the visitors.

- Carnegie Mellon shot 26.2% from the floor and connected on 1-of-27 from long range.
- Sophomore Catherine Or had a game-high 22 points while Black ended with a season-high 12 points.
- Freshman Savannah Gibbs grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds with Black hauling down nine boards.
Presidents Stats
- W&J shot 35.7% from the floor and connected on 5-of-21 from behind the arc.
- W&J had three score in double figures with Adalynn Cherry leading the way with 18 points. Bryn Bezjak finished with 13 and Sarah Berardelli chipped in with 10.
- Meghan Dryburgh led the Presidents with 10 rebounds.

- Or has now scored in double figures in all nine contest this season and has scored 20 or more in three.
