Or, Gibbs Receive All-UAA Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior Catherine Or and sophomore Savannah Gibbs received recognition from the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches this year with selections to the 2023-24 UAA Women's All-Association Team after leading the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team this season.

Despite missing a few games during the season, Or repeated as a first-team honoree. Her selection to the team marks her third appointment to the All-Association team, as she was named to the second team in 2021-22. Or is the sixth player in program history to garner two first-team honors.

Or, who missed six games this year, including two in UAA play, closed the year with a scoring average of 15.9 points per game and 8.6 rebounds a game while recording her 1,000th career point. She was first in the league in rebounding for the second straight year and third in the league in scoring. Or took 42 trips to the free-throw line, missing just four for the season, to top her previous school record of 90.1% with a 90.5% showing.

Or scored in double digits in 16 of 19 games this year while recording seven double-doubles. She had a season-high of 28 points against Denison and reached the 20-point mark in five games. The junior point guard finished third in assists 59 for 3.1 per game average.

Gibbs was a consistent force for the Tartans in the post and occasionally from long range, as she led the team in scoring seven times and finished with a 13.8 scoring average. Her 50.0% field-goal percentage was fifth in the UAA while her 7.0 rebounds a game ranked ninth. Gibbs led the team in assists with 90 which is the 12th most in program history. Her 3.8 assists per game average was fifth in the UAA.

Gibbs scored in double digits in 21 of 24 games this year while recording six double-doubles. She recorded a season-best 20 points against Pitt-Greensburg with a career-high nine assists coming against Geneva. She also picked up a career-high four steals this season against New York University.

The Tartans finished the season with an 11-14 record and a 3-11 UAA mark.
