Women’s Golf Places Fourth at 36-hole Allegheny Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the final day of the 2014 Allegheny College Invitational hosted at the par 73 Country Club of Meadville, Monday, September 28. The Tartans finished as the top Division III squad for the 36-hole event after carding a team score of 691 (347-344).

In the Tartans first 36-hole tournament of the season, freshman Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the way with a 159 (79-80) to place sixth out of a field of 54. Classmates Robin Tan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) and Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) carded rounds of 169 (86-83) and 176 (85-91), respectively.

Freshman Frances Hughes (Palo Alto, Calif./Castilleja) entered the clubhouse on Monday improving 13 strokes from her opening round to finish the 36-hole event with a 193 (103-90) while Diana Zhou (Diamond Bar, Calif.) shot a 195 (97-98).

The Tartans had two freshmen individuals enter the invitational. Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) shot a 200 (101-99) and Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) ended with a 218 (110-108).

Carnegie Mellon will conclude the fall season at the two-day Seton Hill Invitational on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11.
