Tartans Place Third at Inaugural UAA Women's Golf Championships

(SORRENTO, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team placed third at the Inaugural University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Championships on Monday, March 9, at Red Tail Country Club in Sorrento, Florida. The Tartans faced off with third-ranked Washington University who won and 11th-ranked New York University.

The Tartans finished with a two-day total of 750 after improving by 26 strokes on the second day.

Freshman Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) earned All-UAA first-team honors with a fifth-place showing after carding a 161 total for the tournament. Kitahara followed her first-day score of 80 with an 81 on day two.

Freshman Robin Tan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) improved by nine strokes on Monday, finishing with an 87 on the par-72 course, to finish 12th overall with an 183. Freshman Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) tallied a 190 to place 13th with a 99 on day one and a 91 on day two.

Freshman Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) improved by 10 strokes in round two, carding an 103, for a two-day total of 216, while freshman Diana Zhou (Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar) finished with a two-day total of 241.

Playing as an individual, freshman Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) had a second round performance of 96, improving by eight strokes, to finish with a score of 200.

The Tartans will next play at the three-day Jekyll Island Invitational at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia, beginning Friday, March 13.
