Women’s Golf Wins Spring Invite, Kitahara Claims Individual Medalist

(VERONA, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team placed first at its spring invitational on Wednesday, April 5 after carding a 334. The 18-hole event was held at the par 72 Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania. Top individual medalist honors went to Tartan junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) who carded a five-over par 77.

Junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) carded an 85 while freshmen Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) and Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) both finished one-stroke back from Hoskins with an 86. Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) ended the round with an 89.
    
Carnegie Mellon had three individuals enter the invite; junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) carded an 86, freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) shot an 87, junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) finished with a 96.
    
The Tartans return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 8-9 as they host the Annual Carnegie Mellon Spring Shootout.  The two-day event will be held at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania.
