ECAC Honors Three Women Soccer Players on First Team

(DANBURY, Conn.) - The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) recently announced its annual All-Star teams with three Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer players earning a spot on the South team. All three honorees picked up a first-team selection.

Leading the way was senior Savina Reid (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) who earned a spot as a forward. Reid led the team and the University Athletic Association (UAA) with 11 goals. She also recorded five assists to finish second in the UAA in points with 27.

Joining Reid on the first team is freshmen Tori Iatarola (West Dundee, Ill./Loyola Academy) in the midfield and Keely Jelinek (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) at defender. Iatarola was the UAA Rookie of the Year and earned ECAC Rookie of the Week three times throughout the season. She tallied five goals, six assists and two game-winning goals for the year.

Jelinek was the rock of the defensive line for the Tartans as she contributed to the team's goals against average of 0.41, which led the UAA and was 10th in the nation. She also tallied one goal and was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week once.

Another award that was handed out last week came from the NSCAA as junior Carson Quiros (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) was named to the Scholar All-Region Third Team. Quiros holds a 3.95 GPA in professional and creative writing and played defensive midfield for the Tartans this season. Quiros scored two game-winning goals and tallied one assist.
