#10 Tartans Control Play in 1-1 Tie at #22 Brandeis

(WALTHAM, Mass.) - Senior Haili Adams (Kirkland, Wash. / Juanita) scored her second University Athletic Association (UAA) goal of the season, as the 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team tied 22nd-ranked Brandeis University, 1-1, on Saturday, October 7 in Waltham, Massachusetts. The Tartans are now 8-1-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in the UAA while the Judges move to 9-1-2 and 1-0-1.

Adams' goal came with 55 seconds left to play and tied the game for the Tartans who put 16 shots on goal while holding Brandeis to five. Senior defender Katie Strycharz (Potomac Falls, Va. / Dominion) put the pass on the foot of Adams for the assist.

The Judges scored with 47 seconds to play in the first half after earning a corner kick following a save by freshman Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo. / Micds). Becca Buchman put in the goal off an assist by Katie Hayes.

The Tartans had eight shots stopped by Brandeis keeper Sierra Dana in the first half and another four denied in the second.

Carnegie Mellon put one shot on frame in the first overtime period and two in the second before settling for the tie.

The Tartans will next face #1 University of Chicago in Chicago on Friday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m.
