Three Honored on CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Three Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer players were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District women's soccer team, as announced by the association. The district team is voted on by sports information directors in the state of Pennsylvania.

Senior Tori Iatarola (West Dundee, Ill. / Loyola Academy) earns the honor for the second straight year while she is joined by senior Alex Moy (Southborough, Mass. / Algonquin Regional) and sophomore Camille Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio / The Seven Hills School). Nominated players must be starters or significant reserves in at least their sophomore season and carry a minimum GPA of 3.30.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 which is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania.  All three honorees now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Iatarola carries a 3.63 GPA as a psychology major with a minor in linguistics. On the field this season, Iatarola has scored two goals, assisted on four others while starting 17 games. She was recently named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) second team for the second straight year. As a sophomore, Iatarola was named an All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (now United Soccer Coaches) and D3Soccer.com. She is a two-time NSCAA All-Region honoree and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star. Iatarola also garnered honors from the UAA coaches as a first team member twice and was named UAA Rookie of the Year.

Off the field, Iatarola was a research assistant at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and she interned with The Lab School of Washington in 2016 where she was a group leader of 12 six-year-olds with learning disabilities. She is currently a teacher's assistant at Carnegie Mellon's Children's School and is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Iatarola is also a proponent of volunteering and does so for various food drives, CMU's 1000Plus Day of Service, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Feed My Starving Children. After graduation, Iatarola will be working for Teach for America in Chicago and is committed to the program for two years.

Moy, who recently earned All-UAA First Team honors, holds a 3.72 GPA and is majoring in materials science and engineering with minors in biomedical engineering, Hispanic Studies, and mechanical behavior of materials. As the starting outside back for the Tartans, Moy has helped shut down the opponent's attack and is part of the defense that has a team goals against average of 0.41 with 13 shutouts.

Moy is a member of Carnegie Mellon's Undergraduate Student Senate, Stress Culture Initiative, Materials Advantage, and SPIRIT. She is also a member of the Society of Women Engineers, Phi Sigma Iota International Foreign Language Honor Society, and volunteers with the 1,000plus event on campus. Moy is a research assistant in the chemistry department and was an intern at Raytheon Company in 2016 and 2017. She'll return to Carnegie Mellon next fall to complete her masters in materials science and engineering.

Williams joins Moy as a defender for the Tartans where she anchors the group from her central position. As a sophomore, Williams earned her second All-UAA honor this season when she was named to the second team.

Away from the field, Williams maintains a 4.0 GPA as a chemistry major with a minor in business. Last summer, she worked in an inorganic chemistry lab at the University of Cincinnati. Williams is a member of Plaidvocates, a peer health and wellness advocacy program for athletes and introduced the idea of an "Athlete Cook Off" workshop to promote healthy eating.

The Tartans, ranked eighth in the nation, have advanced to the sectional semifinal of the NCAA Tournament and will continue the season at William Smith College on Saturday, November 18 against third-ranked Hardin-Simmons University at 1:30 p.m.
