(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The third-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after finishing the regular season with an 11-0-6 record. The appearance in the NCAA tournament marks the tenth in 11 years for the program.

The Tartans started the year ranked eighth in the nation and rose to number one by the fourth week of the season. The Tartans held the top spot in the nation, a first in program history, for two weeks and finished the regular season ranked third after moving through the University Athletic Association (UAA) with a win and six ties against five nationally ranked teams.

The NCAA Selection Committee has designated the Tartans as a road team with travel to New Jersey where the New York University Violets are set to host a pod of four teams on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11. The Tartans will play Washington and Lee University on Friday at New Jersey Institute of Technology at a time to be determined. The Generals also earned an at-large bid and have a record of 13-3-4.

NYU will host Southern Virginia, winners of the USA South Conference, with a 13-5-1 season record. NYU, like CMU, earned an at-large bid out of the UAA with a 3-2-2 conference mark and 12-2-2 overall record.

The Tartans have had success in the national tournament, advancing past the second round seven times, including the past two years, while the 2019 team played in the national semifinal for the first time in program history. In nine years in the tournament, the Tartans have a 16-6-4 record with 15 shutouts.
