Two Carnegie Mellon alumni have joined the Tartan Athletics Club Board of Directors, as they will provide continued leadership and insight. Joining the Board in 2022 are Jackie (Guevel) Harrison and Joshua Kimball will join a Board that has made a significant impact on the Carnegie Mellon Athletics program since its inception in August 2012.

Carnegie Mellon has received a $1.25 million commitment to establish an endowed fund supporting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives within the athletics department. The gift, which is from an anonymous donor, was made in honor of former head football coach Rich Lackner.

The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics has hired Shea Little to be the Tartans’ assistant strength and conditioning coach to work alongside Alan DeGennaro, the director of strength and conditioning for the Tartans for the past 12 years.

The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics has hired Terrence Stanton to be the Tartans’ Coordinator of Events and Facilities. The position was made possible through the NCAA ethnic minorities and women’s internship grant, as well as a newly-established endowed fund that supports diversity, equity and inclusion within the athletics department. Stanton will play a lead role in the successful execution of home contests for several varsity sports, coordination of day-to-day operations and maintenance needs of athletic facilities, as well as develop and implement a promotional strategy for varsity athletics.

Carnegie Mellon University Director of Athletics Josh Centor has announced the promotion of Kim Kelly to Senior Associate Director of Athletics. Kelley was named Assistant Director of Athletics in 2015 before moving into the role of Associate Director of Athletics in 2018.

Carnegie Mellon Athletics Earns Best-Ever Finish in Final Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics finished 15th in the 2021-22 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Carnegie Mellon totaled 725.75 points to record its highest finish in the 27-year history of the Learfield Directors’ Cup. Following the 2017-18 school year, Carnegie Mellon was 23rd. The Tartans are one of four University Athletic Association institutions to crack the top 15 in the standings.

Four individuals and one team will be enshrined in the Carnegie Mellon University Athletics Hall of Fame, as the new class of Tartan legends was announced today.

After one of the most successful years in Tartan history with 13 programs earning bids to the NCAA Championships, the Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes continued their excellence in the classroom as well. For the spring, 141 student-athletes posted a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) with 62 percent earning a 3.50 GPA or better.

The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics is 24th in the final winter Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Carnegie Mellon totaled 410.75 points through the fall and winter seasons, marking its highest ranking in the 27-year history of the Learfield Directors’ Cup following the winter. The Tartans are one of five University Athletic Association institutions to crack the top 25 in the standings, with all eight institutions finishing among the top 65.

Andy Girard, Monica Harrison and Stefanie Santo, three members of the Carnegie Mellon University athletics department, have received promotions to assistant director roles as announced by Director of Athletics Josh Centor. Girard will take on the title of Assistant Director of Athletics for Leadership and Development Programs; Harrison, Assistant Director of Athletics for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI); and Santo, Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Operations.
