Tartan Football Announces 2016 Incoming Class

Carnegie Mellon University Head Football Coach Rich Lackner has announced the Tartans 2016 recruiting class. The Tartans will welcome 27 newcomers that hail from 10 different states.
Carnegie Mellon Football Has Eight Named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had eight student-athletes named to the 2016 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
Dyer Uses Entrepreneur Skills to Lead

Jonathan ‘JD’ Dyer, a mechanical engineering major and cornerback on the Tartans football team, is an entrepreneur through and through. He says, “In my study of entrepreneurship, I’ve learned that it’s the people that hustle that win.” It’s that lesson that has served him well both in the business world and on the football field.
Football to Play MIT in 2019 and 2020

Two of the top universities in the country will collide on the gridiron in a home-and home football series starting in 2019. The Carnegie Mellon University football program has reached an agreement to play MIT in 2019 and 2020. The initial game of the series will be played in Pittsburgh on September 7, 2019. The Tartans will then travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts for the return game on September 5, 2020.

For Joe Ferris (TPR’95, MBA’99) there are many reasons to stay connected to his alma mater, but maybe the most important one is the energy he feels as he walks amongst some of the brightest students in the nation. Ferris, a football alum, often returns to campus for Saturday football games, networking events or engagement opportunities with business classes.
38 Carnegie Mellon Football Players Recognized on PAC Academic Fall Honor Roll

The Carnegie Mellon University football team landed 38 members on the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2015 semester. For the second consecutive fall, the Tartans had the most football players honored amongst the 11 schools that sponsor football in the PAC. Of the 38, 12 maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the first semester.
Football to Play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in 2018 and 2019

The Carnegie Mellon University football program has reached an agreement to play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a home-and-home series for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The initial game of the agreement will be played in Pittsburgh on September 1, 2018. The Tartans will then travel to Claremont, California for the return game on September 14, 2019.
Four Football Players Named D3football.com All-America and ECAC All-Stars

Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University football team, senior center Andrew Garibaldi (Flemington N.J./Hunterdon Central), junior defensive end Brian Khoury (Davenport, Iowa/Bettendorf), sophomore running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore safety Drew Fitzmorris (Omaha, Neb./Westside), were named 2015 D3football.com All-Americans when the team was announced prior to the 2015 Stagg Bowl in Salem, Virginia, Friday, December 18. All four landed a spot on the honorable mention team.
Khoury Named 2015 Cliff Harris Award Finalist

Junior defensive end Brian Khoury (Davenport, Iowa/Bettendorf) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team has been named a national finalist for the 2015 Cliff Harris Award, which is presented to the top small college defensive player in the nation. The finalist list was announced Thursday afternoon.
Benger Rakes In Another All-America Honor

Sophomore running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team received his second All-America honor within a week’s time when The Associated Press (AP) announced its Little All-America team late Thursday afternoon. The AP Little All-America team selects the best "small college" players in the country and includes players from Division II, III and NAIA.
Benger Named 2015 AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-American

Sophomore running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team received yet another accolade for the 2015 season. The sophomore headlined the 2015 AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). Benger is one of two sophomores that were named to the 25-member squad and one of nine non-seniors.

Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University football team were named to the D3football.com 2015 All-South Region First Team; senior center Andrew Garibaldi (Flemington N.J./Hunterdon Central), junior defensive end Brian Khoury (Davenport, Iowa/Bettendorf), sophomore running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore safety Drew Fitzmorris (Omaha, Neb./Westside). The four were selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff and were chosen from 240 nominations by Division III South member schools.

Carnegie Mellon University junior defensive lineman Brian Khoury (Davenport, Iowa/Bettendorf) and sophomore running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.) have been named to the 2015 Academic All-America Division III Football team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Tuesday, December 1. Both were named to the second team and are two of the 11 non-seniors selected of the 48 student-athletes to the first or second team with Benger the lone sophomore.

Two days following the Carnegie Mellon University football team’s victory in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Legacy Bowl, the Tartans placed 20 on the University Athletic Association (UAA) team. Heading the awards are running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.) garnering Offensive Player of the Year, junior defensive lineman Brian Khoury (Davenport, Iowa/Bettendorf) as Defensive Player of the Year with the coaching staff, under the helm of 30th-year head coach Rich Lackner, receiving Coaching Staff of the Year honors. The Tartans finished the season with an 8-3 record while they claimed the school’s ninth UAA title. Of the 20 players selected, 11 Tartans garnered first-team accolades.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team’s offensive line along with sophomore safety Drew Fitzmorris (Omaha, Neb./Westside) and senior Chris Herrera (Miami, Fla./Christopher Columbus) garnered weekly honors from the University Athletic Association (UAA) for their play in the Tartans’ 48-13 win over Bridgewater State University in the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Legacy Bowl. The line was named Offensive Athletes of the Week while Fitzmorris received the defensive award and Herrera the special teams accolade.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team competed in the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Legacy Bowl and defeated the Bears of Bridgewater State University, 48-13. The game was held on the campus of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut. The game marked the Tartans' fourth appearance in an ECAC Bowl game as the program holds a mark of 3-1 in bowl contests.
