Katy Howard Hired as Carnegie Mellon Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach

Carnegie Mellon University head women’s basketball coach Jacquie Hullah has announced that Katy Howard will join her as a full-time assistant coach for the 2014-2015 season. Howard comes to Pittsburgh from Worcester State University, where she served as an assistant coach for one year.

Carnegie Mellon University freshman women’s basketball player Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year when the league announced its All-Association team Monday, March 3. Murphy is the third Tartan to receive rookie of the year honors from the UAA.

The Tartans finish the year at 12-13 and 3-11 while the Spartans finish 10-15 and 4-10.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team traveled to St. Louis, Mo. to play #5 Washington University in University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Sunday, February 23. The Tartans fell by the score 76-57. The loss evens Carnegie Mellon's record at 12-12, 3-9, as the Bears are now 22-2, 12-1.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team traveled to Chicago, Ill., Friday, February 21 to play the Maroons of the University of Chicago in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. Junior Gabrielle West (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) tied her own single-game record of seven three-pointers made in an 84-77 Tartan victory. The win improves the Tartans record to 12-11, 3-9 while the Maroons are now 14-9, 8-4.
