Bio

Hi, I am Gillianne DeFoe and I am excited to be part of the CMU community. My love for yoga started as a little girl practicing with my mom, but I really appreciated the benefits of yoga while I was in medical school. Yoga was able to help me reduce stress and anxiety associated with studying and the long, torturous hours that I went through during training. My philosophy on the mat is that you come as you are. You don't need to be able to do the perfect handstand or execute the perfect downward dog with your heels on the mat. I want you to just be yourself and be prepared to be transformed once you leave the mat. My goal is to be able to teach you to do yoga so that you are safe and that you can learn the fundamentals so that you can practice on your own. I'm not only a physician, but I'm also an integrative change worker and life coach, which means I can bring these skills on the mat and all these tools that I've learned on the mat to help you get to your desired goal, whether it be being able to sleep better or being more focused or more flexibility, not just in your body, but also in your mind so that you're more creative and you're able to problem solve and that I’m super excited about. I'm super excited to meet you and I'll see you on the mat.
